WE ARE A COMMUNITY
Ballet on Kloof is a movement studio for adults in Cape Town’s trendy Kloof Street.
Whether you’ve always wanted to dance, get back into it, or do a yoga and Pilates class with a ballet twist, we welcome you! No matter your age, background, experience, or fitness level, our classes are aimed at adults who love movement, dance and have an interest in being fit and healthy.
In a no-pressure environment, our classes focus on technique, conditioning, stretching, and fitness; for beginners and those at intermediate level. One thing is certain: it is a great full body workout!
ROOTED IN OUR LOVE FOR MOVEMENT
Ballet on Kloof’s story starts in 2012. To create a space for adults to enjoy ballet in a relaxed environment – without any pressure – was the vision for Ballet on Kloof’s founder, Seugnet. After graduating from UCT School of Dance and working at a ballet shop, she put the plan into motion, found a venue, and the rest is history.
Much like movement, Ballet on Kloof’s story keeps evolving. Over the years more classes (and workshops) were added, as well as more teachers, each bringing their own expertise and personality. Together, we continue to develop and nurture our studio and our community into a space where you can feel safe, connect, and just have fun!

PASSION THRIVES HERE
“I want everyone to dance — who needs to dance — with only the feeling of self-love, self-expression, community and no competition. I created the studio as a safe and sacred space so anyone who enters feels relaxed and excited to move with freedom instead of judgment. Expect inclusivity, great music, to be challenged and fun.”
“Enjoying dancing as an adult is a mix of understanding the how, as well as just enjoying the art of moving to music. Finding this balance in my classes — between technique and fun — is what I strive for, helping dancers understand the detail of how to do something so that they can more freely enjoy doing it!”
“I do my best to create a fun and safe space for the students to transform into dancers and forget their day-to-day routine by teaching them how to move with power and precision, building their abilities up over time until they leave the class feeling confident and proud of what they’ve achieved as dancers. I have the passion for the art form and the desire to change people’s lives.”
“In my classes I focus on the individual ability and growth of each student. I strive on seeing my students grow under my wing. My passion for teaching shines through in my classes as I guide and nurture every student through techniques and movement, creating flow and a feeling of achievement, in a fun-filled and relaxed environment.”
“I always try to make my body conditioning classes inclusive, fun, challenging, and energising. The human body is magnificent and beautiful and I love to motivate my students by sharing my passion for the way our bodies move. My classes follow the BASI Pilates structure but with a background in ballet, contemporary dance, choreography and theatre, my classes are creative and different every lesson. I adapt to what the students want and need and tailor exercises to support their ballet technique.”
